The technical nature and the constant evolution of the foil market have driven us to partner with one of the best engineers and designers in the field and to relocate to Tarifa, positioning ourselves at the heart of market trends and enabling us to test every new idea immediately. It is with ONIX Foils in Tarifa and its chief designer, Sam Carentz, that we have developed our new collection of FOOL MOON ZenFlow foils.
We design our foils to meet specific needs and practices identified through customer feedback. Tarifa truly serves as an incredible playground for defining market demands and establishing a detailed project brief for each new venture.
Once the main characteristics of a new front wing model are determined, Sam performs fluid dynamics analysis using his specialized XFLR5 and OpenFoam software to achieve highly accurate, reality-matching results. After refining the shapes, 3D contours, and profile distributions, ONIX is ready to produce a first sample. Thanks to ONIX Foil, we leverage rapid prototyping capabilities to ensure that theoretical results work as expected. Using 3D printing and carbon fiber laminating with a vacuum bag process, we can create test pieces in less than three days.
With ONIX, the design and manufacturing process is truly unique: the manufacturing workshop is just a few meters from the design office, and the beach is only 200 meters away. This setup allows us to make the most of Tarifa by testing new designs under the feet of riders with varying skill levels, experimenting with different weights, equipment setups, and weather conditions.
For production, we use high-quality 245 g/m² carbon fiber twill (2/2) sourced from Germany, combined with epoxy resin from France. We craft the cores of the front and rear wings ourselves, using Paulownia wood. The post-laminating process is carried out within the ONIX structure, with Sam, the designer, always nearby, closely monitoring every step of the process. This ensures an unmatched level of finishing quality, with meticulous attention given to the leading and trailing edges and precision sanding direction. The aluminum masts and fuselages are all designed by Sam and manufactured in Cádiz, just an hour and a half from Tarifa.
During your next visit to Tarifa, don’t hesitate to reach out to Sam Carentz, who will be delighted to give you a tour of his offices and production center.
Your front wing will be handmade upon receipt of your order. Allow 3 weeks for delivery.
