Founder and chief officer of FOOL MOON, Pierre-Yves Hocké is completely dedicated to his passions for the Ocean, Design, Sports and Travel.
Born in Nigeria, Africa, raised in Switzerland, Pierre-Yves’ design career began in 1989 when he entered the European campus of the
prestigious Art Center College of Design of Pasadena, California.
After graduating in ’91 with a degree in Graphic Design and
Packaging, attracted by the waves of Southern California, Pierre-Yves quickly moved to L.A. where he got his first professional experience
with the KANO design group in Long Beach, California.
He then pursued his quest a little more to the West and landed
in ’92 at Kahului int’l airport on the Island of Maui.
There, in parallel to countless hours of riding waves on the
north shore of the island, he started a freelance career, designing for
local and international sport brands such as DaKine, Angulo boards, Sean
Ordonez boards, the Aloha Classic and Adidas.
One sunset, after a late windsurf sesh at Sprekelsville. Stoked with the
remaining feelings of flawless loops and hollow sections, resting under
the Maui Moon, the idea of a brand dedicated to his 4 passions: Ocean,
Design, Sport and Travel started to take shape.
FOOL MOON was born this very same evening somewhere in between
the beach and the gentle slopes of Mount Haleakala.
